Dates of Planned Meetings
Thimbleby Parish Council is required to have an annual meeting of the parish council in May each year where the first item of business is to elect the Chair of the Parish Council from among the parish councillors for the civic year ahead. In addition to that meeting they must also have at least 3 other parish council meetings as required by law.
Thimbleby Parish Council has decided that it will hold meetings every two months and will set the dates in advance allowing councillors and officers to plan ahead. The Parish Council may amend those dates if it decides it is necessary. The parish council may also hold extra meetings if items of business arise that cannnot wait for the next ordinary planned meeting as convened in accordance with legal requirements. Parish Council meetings are held in public and members of the public may attend to observe the meetings. A public forum is provided before the parish council meetings start for residents to raise issues.
In addition to Parish Council meetings the Chair of the Parish Council will also convene an Annual Parish Meeting for electors to attend (the date is set between 1st March and 1st June) and invite local organisations to give reports on their status and progress. Electors may ask questions and raise local issues. Decisions made at these meetings are not binding on the parish council.
Parish Council meeting dates for the 2024-25 Civic Year
The usual venue of meetings of Thimbleby Parish Council is at Thimbleby Village Hall. If the usual venue is not available the parish council will publish the alternative venue on agendas prior to the meeting.
Public Forum will commence at 6.45pm for members of the public to raise local issues prior to the start of each parish council meeting except if the Annual Parish Meeting is taking place which starts at 6.30pm. The time permitted can be extended with the consent of the parish council if more time is needed.
