BT Payphones launched a consultation about the future of the payphone in the phonebox in Thimbleby. The Parish Council would like to know what you think about this.
BT Payphones monitor payphone usage and where less than 52 calls are made in a year they will launch a consultation about removing the payphone and locking the phone box.
Thimbleby's payphone has been used 6 times in 52 weeks, according to BT Payphones.
What should Thimbleby Parish Council do?
- Set up an effort from the community to make 52 calls from the payphone to keep it available for a while longer? A similar village recently saved their payphone from removal in Sharrington, Norfolk Sharrington's phone box saved after campaign by villagers - BBC News
- Advise BT Payphones that the payphone should be removed and the listed phone box be locked up and BT maintain it as they see fit?
- Allow the payphone to be removed and Adopt a Phonebox and find a use for it by the community and pick up the ongoing costs of the phonebox maintenance and new activity put into the phonebox.
