East Lindsey District Council has appointed consultants to review the Conservation Areas in Thimbleby during 2026. Your views matter. Find out more about the review and how you can contribute here.

What is a Conservation Area?

A Conservation Area is a place with special architectural or historic interest, recognised for its distinctive character and sense of place. These areas are protected not only to preserve what is valued, but also to ensure that any changes enhance and respect their unique qualities.

Local councils carefully manage Conservation Areas so that new development and alterations are well-designed and contribute positively to the area. While this can mean additional permissions are sometimes needed, it aims to maintain attractive streets, protect historic features, and safeguard the setting of homes for the long term.

Living in a Conservation Area often brings wider benefits. The character of the neighbourhood is more likely to be retained, trees and green spaces receive additional protection, and there are greater opportunities for residents to have a say in planning decisions through public consultation.

Are my views important?

Absolutely. Your views help us understand how the conservation area and its heritage shape the local sense of place, including how people experience, value, and benefit from the environment. We’re particularly interested in what you feel is important about local buildings, spaces, and character areas; places that support wellbeing; the advantages and challenges of living or managing property here; pressures for change; areas that have improved or declined; and any mapping or boundary issues you’ve noticed.

How can I share my views?
